Veteran India off-spinner R Ashwin refused to talk about Sunil Narine’s bowling action, as he raved about India pacer Jasprit Bumrah on his YouTube channel.

Sunil Narine has been just amazing for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024. He is their second-highest run-scorer, with 380 runs in ten matches and a strike rate of 179.24 with one century.  Even in the bowling department, Narine has succeeded, finishing seventh in the Purple Cap race with 13 wickets in 10 matches at an economy of 6.72.

Among the top five wicket-takers in the Purple Cap competition, only Jasprit Bumrah (6.25) and Narine had an economy below 7. Bumrah leads the Purple Cap race with 17 dismissals in 11 games at an economy of 6.25.

Meanwhile, R Ashwin praised both Bumrah and Narine and discussed the India pacer’s bowling action. But he chose not to comment on the ex-West Indies player’s action but took a sly dig at the spinner.

"Bumrah has a really good unique point – He has got a distinct advantage compared to other pacers due to his release point. I won’t talk about Sunil Narine. It’s wrong according to my policy. Narine was also getting hit 2-3 seasons ago. This season he’s been outstanding. But let’s not get into that topic," Ashwin said on YouTube.

Coming to performances, Bumrah's sizzling form hasn't resonated with Mumbai Indians' performance in IPL 2024, as they remain at the bottom of the points table. On the other hand, Narine's KKR is second with 14 points in 10 fixtures.
