Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli was at his witty best during an event when asked about post-match dietary indulgences.
Kohli is second on the list for most runs in IPL 2024, with 500 runs in 10 games with one century and 4 fifties to his name. Until recently, he held the Orange Cap for most runs, before being surpassed by Ruturaj Gaikwad.
At an RCB promotional event, Virat Kohli was asked about post-match dietary indulgences and what was his favorite snack after the match. Kohli humorously stated that there is no guilt involved, and one can eat freely.
He pointed at pacer Mohammed Siraj and drew comparison between batters and bowlers, underscoring the different physical demands they face during a match. Kohli pointed out that bowlers have to bowl a certain number of overs, which imposes restrictions on their dietary choices.
But for batters, their match could potentially end in just one ball, implying that they might have more leeway in indulging in their favorite treats after a match.
"There is no guilt after the match, you can eat freely. This is a fast bowler's topic because he has to bowl four overs. Hamara match toh 1 ball mein bhi khatam ho sakta hai (My match could even end in one ball). So we would have to see whether to eat that or not. For bowlers, it is easier. They know that they would have to sprint for 24 balls," quipped Kohli.
Kohli's open and hilarious reaction shed light on the disparate experiences of batsmen and bowlers in cricket. While bowlers must maintain their stamina and endurance throughout the match, batters may have a shorter duration on the field, giving them more leeway in their post-match dietary choices.
