Former India spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan took a couple of digs at eminent commentator Harsha Bhogle on X after the media pundit wondered whether CSK had put enough runs on the board against MI in their recent IPL 2024 match.
The two five-time IPL champion teams MI and CSK clashed on Sunday in Mumbai and CSK was asked to bat first by Hardik Pandya, the MI captain, who had won the toss.
Thanks to half-centuries by Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube and a 4-ball 20* by MS Dhoni, CSK posted 206/4 in 20 overs.
Harsha Bhogle took to social media and wondered whether the 200-plus total would be enough on Wankhede's surface to defend.
Harsha Bhogle took to X and posted: “206 is a fine score but on this surface, with a bit of dew coming in and not many bowling options, #CSK will think they needed another 20.”
In a now-deleted post, Sivaramakrishnan took a dig at Bhogle and accused him of putting the Chennai team down and called him “Mumbai Freaks”.
He further questioned Bhogle over his contribution to cricket as well, posting: “Really wonder what your contribution is to Indian cricket.”
Siva, as he is lovingly called, also replied to a fan questioning how Bhogle’s prediction proved to be false and CSK had enough runs in the end to win by 20 runs.
Sivaramakrishnan replied: “Absolutely. Is he an expert????”, to a fan sharing: “Still laughing at this 'expert opinion'. Guess who needed another 20 in the end? Lol.”
CSK prevailed by 20 runs as MI batting failed to come good against Matheesha Pathirana, who picked 4 wickets. Only Rohit Sharma stood tall with his second IPL century, scoring 105*.
