Mumbai Indians (MI) faced a humiliating defeat in their first home game of the IPL 2024 as Rajasthan Royals (RR) handed them a 6-wicket thumping on Monday, April 1. This meant that MI have lost all of their first 3 matches under new captain Hardik Pandya.
Riyan Parag with 54* anchored the chase of 126 runs, while earlier, Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal with three wickets and Nandre Burger with 2 wickets had rattled the MI batting lineup. Only Tilak Varma with 32 and Hardik Pandya with 34 could resist the RR bowling somewhat.
Meanwhile, for MI, three of their batters Rohit Sharma, Naman Dhir and Dewald Brevis got out for golden ducks.
Rohit Sharm has been subdued in this IPL 17 thus far with 69 runs across three games, with a strike rate of 164.29.
Ahead of the MI v RR match, Rohit Sharma had a light-hearted interaction with former cricketers Harbhajan Singh, Navjot Singh Sidhu, and Mohammad Kaif, alongside sports presenter Jatin Sapru.

Harbhajan Singh was part of the Mumbai Indians team between 2008 and 2017, having played 136 matches and clinched 127 wickets in total. He also captained MI in a handful of matches and won three IPL titles with the MI franchise.
