The MI v RR match of the IPL 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 1, 2024, saw a fan jumping the fence and running onto the field to hug the former MI captain. Rohit Sharma was fielding at the slip cordon on Monday when a fan invaded the pitch.

The pitch invader ran onto the pitch and stormed toward Rohit Sharma, taking the former MI captain by surprise. The fan hugged Rohit and wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan before he tried to escape security officials and ran out of the field in the middle.

Meanwhile, RR bowlers Trent Boult, and Yuzvendra Chahal with three wickets each, and Nandre Burger with 2 scalps, kept the MI team to 125/9 in 20 overs. This was after Samson won the toss and asked MI to bat first.
