Hardik is facing the wrath of Mumbai fans in the ongoing IPL season.

Hardik Pandya | ScreengrabHardik Pandya’s captaincy stint for Mumbai Indians (MI) hasn’t got off to the best of starts. While the five-time champions lost to Gujarat Titans (GT) by 6 runs in their IPL 2024 opener, they suffered a heavy 31-run defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their second fixture.

Amid the losses, Hardik is also facing the wrath of Mumbai fans. During the SRH game, the all-rounder was subjected to brutal trolling, which include 'Rohit Sharma' chants.

In a video going viral on social media, MI owner Akash Ambani was seen having an intense discussion with Hardik Pandya.

After the brief chat, Hardik sprinted up the staircase to head to the MI dressing room. It was then that Mumbai fans targeted Hardik with 'Rohit, Rohit' chants and in response to it, the captain smashed the railing.

Here’s the video:

Playing against SRH, MI won the toss and opted to bowl first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. However, they lost the plot in the first innings itself as the hosts racked up a gigantic 277/3 on the board - the highest team total in IPL history.

In response, Mumbai Indians put up a valiant effort, scoring 246/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Tilak Varma led the charge with a dazzling 64 off just 34 balls, while Tim David contributed an unbeaten 42 off 22 deliveries to keep MI in the contest.

However, their efforts went in vain as the Hardik Pandya-led side lost the match by a significant margin. They are currently languishing at the ninth spot on the points table, featuring 10 teams.

Mumbai Indians will next face Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday (April 1).
