Tom Moody questioned the continued omission of Prithvi Shaw from the Delhi Capitals' (DC) playing XI in the ongoing IPL 2024, stating that it seems illogical to overlook the talented 24-year-old.
The former Australian cricketer further backed Shaw's inclusion in the DC’s playing XI for upcoming matches in the ongoing IPL 2024.
Despite Shaw's underwhelming numbers in the IPL, Moody highlighted that the Indian batter’s presence can contribute to the DC’s success in the tournament due to his experience in international cricket.
Shaw was sidelined for DC's first two matches in the IPL 2024, with Ricky Bhui picked ahead of the Mumbai batter. However, Bhui has also failed to make an impact so far, scoring only 3 and 0 against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), respectively.

Tom Moody was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo: “It doesn't make sense due to the fact that you've got an Indian international player (Prithvi Shaw) in the dugout. Yes, he hasn't performed in the IPL like we had all hoped he would, but you can't score runs from the dugout.”
Meanwhile, Ricky Bhui's early dismissal for a duck highlighted how domestic players are struggling in the IPL, as the youngster became the victim of a well-directed bouncer from Nandre Burger.
Moody signed off by saying on the same, “That's exactly what you'd like to see a genuine quick bowler do. And to do it to a top-order player is even more alarming. What it does also is highlight the jump between Ranji Trophy runs to international cricket and IPL.”
