Virat Kohli starred in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) first win in the IPL 2024 as they defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their home ground in Bengaluru. RCB had lost their first match to CSK in the IPL 17 opener.
PBKS had been asked to bat first by RCB captain Faf du Plessis and they posted 176/6 in 20 overs with Shikhar Dhawan (45) and Jitesh Sharma (27) top-scoring. Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell picked two wickets each for RCB.
In reply, Virat Kohli led the chase with 77 in 49 balls, while Dinesh Karthik with 28* and Mahipal Lomror with 17* finished the game in a close finish in the end as RCB won by 4 wickets in the end.
During Virat Kohli’s knock, the play was halted for a couple of minutes when a pitch invader tried to get close to Virat Kohli and embrace the superstar cricketer.
While the fan was quickly taken off the field by security personnel, a video circulating on social media showed a couple of security officials manhandling the pitch invader.
As per the India Today report, the authenticity of the video was not verified, but a section of fans on social media claimed that it was the pitch invader who copped blows from the security officials after he was taken off the field.
In the video which was seemingly shot from a stand on the first floor of the iconic venue, bouncers can be seen thrashing a man, whom they pulled out of the field of play.
