South African legend AB de Villiers was in awe of Virat Kohli’s extraordinary performance during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) 4-wicket win over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 6th match of the ongoing IPL 2024 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Kohli's batting ability was on full display in the match, as he played some powerful and glorious shots. He made 77 runs off 49 balls with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes to help RCB record their first win of the ongoing IPL 2024.

AB de Villiers said on Jio Cinema: “I saw some signs on the field while they were there in the first half. Just real dedication, commitment, and motivation I could see in his eyes. This guy means business tonight and no one is going to stand in his way.”

However, the former RCB batter mentioned that Kohli might definitely go through a twist of disappointment as he could not finish the match for the side. As RCB needed 47 runs in the final 4 overs, Kohli tried to hit a lofted shot against Harshal Patel but was caught by Harpreet Brar.

The Proteas great explained, “Unfortunately, he didn't finish it at the back end as he would have wanted to. Knowing him, he'll be analyzing tonight in his room. Like, ‘Why didn't I finish that game?’ Very hard on himself? Sometimes.”

De Villiers signed off by saying, “He is just an amazing player. He's played fantastically well tonight. He kept it together, kept himself in the game, and well played the right shots. He really did. And it wasn't just big shots.”
