Mumbai Indians continued their poor record in the first matches of the Indian Premier League. MI has not won their opening match of a new IPL season since 2013 and they started IPL 2024 with a 6-run loss to Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad on March 24.
The match marked the beginning of a new era for Mumbai, with Hardik Pandya leading the side, taking over the reins from Rohit Sharma. However, while Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant 40-odd runs in the chase of 168, Hardik Pandya could only manage 11 runs as MI finished on 162/9 in 20 overs.
After the match, Rohit was spotted having an intense chat with Hardik on the field, with the franchise's owner Akash Ambani also standing right next to them.
It started with Hardik Pandya trying to hug Rohit Sharma from behind, but Rohit turned around and with frustration on his face, can be seen giving some serious advice to Hardik.

Despite the defeat in the opening match, Hardik remained unfazed as he highlighted that the franchise has 13 more games in hand to make things right.
MI will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad on March 27.
