Former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma spoke on his preparation ahead of his team’s first match in the IPL 2024. MI will face off against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday, March 24, 2024 in Ahmedabad.
This will be the first time in 10 years that MI will not be led by Rohit Sharma as full-time captain. The MI team management traded in Hardik Pandya from GT ahead of the IPL 2024 auction and made him captain. This brought a lot of backlash from die-hard Mumbai Indians fans and even some experts criticized the move.
Ahead of the Gujarat Titans match, Rohit Sharma talked about his preparations and said that it gives him confidence.
"For me, preparation has always been the key and that gives me a lot of confidence going into any game. There's lot of things that I do before a game and I think I have done almost everything now, just few things here and there which are left, which I will do now, and I will be ready for the game,” Rohit said in a video shared by MI on X.
Rohit praised the squad's young players for their performances in both international and domestic cricket. He also hoped that the young players might make an impact on the tournament from the start.
"A lot of the players that we got from the auction, were new faces, young players who have done well in domestic cricket as well international cricket. We are looking forward to that. Hopefully, they can make a mark right from the beginning," Rohit said to the franchise.
"Hear from Ro ahead of #GTvMI," MI wrote while sharing the clip.
