Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra combined to take brilliant relay catch | Screengrab/IPLChennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are currently facing each other in the IPL 2024 opener at Chepauk.

Opting bat first, RCB lost half their side for just 78 runs despite a 41-run opening stand between skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. While Chennai bowlers were firing on all cylinders, fielders were ably supporting them.

One great piece of fielding was witnessed when Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra combined together to pull off a stunning relay catch, which resulted in Kohli’s dismissal.

During the 12th over of RCB’s innings, Kohli tried to pull a back of length delivery from Mustafizur Rahman over deep mid-wicket but didn’t get the desired connection.

Rahane, who was stationed at deep mid-wicket, moved to his right and took the catch with a slide. As he was sliding towards the boundary, Rahane relayed it towards Ravindra, who came from the backward square leg to complete an easy grab.

Here’s the video:

It was Virat Kohli’s first innings after an extended break and he failed to make a mark with the bat. The star RCB batter managed to score 21 runs off 20 balls with one six.
