IPL 2024: WATCH- Virat Kohli speaks in Kannada after RCB renaming; requests people not to address him as King

RCB held its Unbox event at Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 19.

Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli in the new design and color RCB jersey | RCB XRoyal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise held their ‘Unbox’ event at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 19, 2024. It featured all of the RCB squad and had special guests in the RCB Women’s team who won the WPL 2024 title.

Notably, Kohli had been on a break from cricket and missed the five-match Test series against England to be with his wife Anushka Sharma as the couple was expecting their second child. Kohli and Anushka were blessed with a baby boy whom they named Akaay.

But Kohli returned to cricket as he joined the RCB squad for the upcoming IPL 2024. After a lengthy break, the audience at the RCB Unbox event in Bengaluru went bonkers when they saw their favorite player, Virat Kohli.

During the event, he also asked the host of the event Danish Sait, to not call him ‘King’ as he feels embarrassed by it.

Guys, we need to get to Chennai pretty quickly, we have a chartered flight so we don’t have much time. Firstly, you need to stop calling me that word (king). I was telling Faf, I feel embarrassed everywhere when you call me that and they react like that so please just call me Virat from now on. Don’t use that word, it’s very embarrassing for me,said Kohli during the event.

Virat Kohli also won the hearts of all the RCB fans in attendance as he had a special message for them in Kannada. The crowd went crazy when Kohli spoke a few words in Kannada language.

During the RCB Unbox event, the franchise unveiled its new logo and officially changed the name from Royal Challengers Bangalore to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The RCB franchise also unveiled its new design jersey, which now has a ting of blue to go with the red color.
