India skipper Rohit Sharma on Monday (March 18) linked up with the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad for the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), starting on March 22.
The official social media handle of MI shared a special video on Rohit's arrival. The clip featured two children and they were discussing Rohit's homecoming in a creative manner.
The kids brought out Rohit Sharma's hilarious stump mic comments like 'garden mein ghumna nahi hai', 'zyada hero nahi banne ka' and 'bhaag Pujji bhaag.' They also referred him as 'Pull shot ka master' and 'Mumbai ka Raja.'
Rohit made a stylish entry from his car as he looked all smiles on reaching the team's hotel. "WOH AA GAYA... RO AA GAYA!" MI captioned the post.
Notably, Rohit Sharma won’t be leading Mumbai Indians this season and will play as a specialist batter.
The franchise sprang a surprise last December by appointing Hardik Pandya as its new captain. The all-rounder would be succeeding Rohit, who led MI to five IPL titles in his 10-year stint as skipper.
This move came after Hardik returned to MI, following a high-profile trade from Gujarat Titans, whom he led in the past two seasons.
Mumbai Indians are due to open their IPL 2024 campaign against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on March 24.
