Sarfaraz Khan scored twin fifties on Test debut for India | BCCIIt will be once again Gautam Gambhir v MS Dhoni as their respective franchises Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are reportedly vying to sign India’s latest Test debutant Sarfaraz Khan for the upcoming IPL 2024.

Sarfaraz Khan impressed one and all after scoring 62 and 68* on his India Test debut against England in the recent Rajkot match. He was aggressive with the bat and took the attack to England's bowlers. He was punishing towards the spinners and along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, broke the back of England's bowling unit in India's second innings.

Interestingly, Sarfaraz Khan doesn’t have a contract in his hand for the upcoming IPL 2024 season. He was released by his franchise Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2024 auction and the batter went unsold at the event at a base price of INR 20 lakhs.

And now as per a report in Anandabazar Patrika, former two-time IPL champions KKR and five-time and defending IPL champions CSK are trying to sign the Mumbai batter for the upcoming IPL 2024 tournament.

According to the report, KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir advised the authorities in the franchise to rope in the 27-year-old in a bid to strengthen the batting line-up, which already boasts of the likes of Rinku Singh, Nitish Rana, Shreyas Iyer, Jason Roy, and Andre Russell amongst others.

On the other hand, CSK is also interested in signing Sarfaraz after getting the green signal from Captain MS Dhoni. The other franchise in the battle to sign the youngster is Royal Challengers Bangalore, whom Sarfaraz has already represented in three IPL seasons between 2015 and 2018.

Sarfaraz has made 50 appearances in IPL between 2015 and 2023, scoring 585 runs with a solitary fifty.
