When the Indian team landed in Ranchi to take part in the fourth Test against England on Tuesday (February 20), there was a notable absentee.
According to a CricketNext report, ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah wasn’t spotted when the hosts arrived in Ranchi around 4 pm from Rajkot.
Rohit Sharma and his men reached the Birsa Munda Airport via a private charter and also had the England team for company.
Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep were the only two pacers spotted at the airport. There were loud cheers for skipper Rohit Sharma, coach Rahul Dravid and No. 3 batter Shubman Gill as they made their way to the team bus.
Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, middle-order batter Sarfaraz Khan and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also got a rousing reception from the crowd.
KL Rahul, who missed the second and third Tests owing to a quadriceps injury, is expected to join the squad in Ranchi on Tuesday. It is learnt that the right-hander has recovered completely from the injury.
Pacer Mukesh Kumar, who was released from the squad for the third Test to take part in Bengal’s Ranji fixture against Bihar, is likely to rejoin the team in Ranchi.
Having won the second and third Tests in Vizag and Rajkot, Team India are leading the five-match series 2-1. The penultimate Test is due to get underway on February 23 in Ranchi.
