RCB beat CSK, MI to become most popular Asian sports team on Instagram for the month of November

The Bangalore-based IPL franchise enjoys a massive fan following across the globe.

In fact, RCB’s popularity seems to be more than that of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI), who have won five IPL titles each.

Recently, RCB pipped the likes of CSK, MI and Al-Nassr FC among other teams to become the most popular Asian sports team on Instagram for the month of November.

According to a report by Deportes&Finanzas, RCB had over 164 million interactions on Instagram in November followed by CSK (104 million interactions), and MI (88.1 million interactions).

IPL 2022 champions Gujarat Titans (GT) occupy the fifth spot on the list with 46.1 million interactions.

During the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai on Tuesday (December 19), RCB bought six cricketers, including three overseas names.

West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph (Rs 11.50 Crore) was their biggest buy, while they also secured the services of Yash Dayal for Rs 5 Crore. RCB spent Rs 20.40 Crore and ended the IPL 2024 auction with a remaining purse of Rs 2.85 Crore.

Players bought at IPL 2024 auction: Alzarri Joseph (Rs 11.50 Crore), Yash Dayal (Rs 5 Crore), Tom Curran (Rs 1.5 Crore), Lockie Ferguson (Rs 2 Crore), Swapnil Singh (Rs 20 Lakh), Saurav Chauhan (Rs 20 Lakh).
