Having played a key role in Australia’s World Cup 2023 triumph, Travis Head was always going to be a big attraction at the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai on Tuesday (December 19).
As it turned out, the left-handed batter triggered a bidding war between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSL) before the former secured his services for INR 6.80 Crore.
After the signing, Travis Head expressed his excitement about joining SRH for the upcoming IPL season.
“Hi, Sunrisers fans, over the moon about joining this year. So many good players in the team, exciting. So many brilliant stories about the Orange Army, how loud they are, how vocal they are. Looking forward to joining,” said Head in a video shared by SRH on X.
Travis Head played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2016 and 2017 seasons, featuring in a total of 10 IPL matches. His IPL statistics include an aggregate of 205 runs at a strike rate of 138.51, including one half-century.
The southpaw has had a great while playing for Australia across formats. He was the Player-of-the-Match in Australia’s WTC final triumph as well as the World Cup semi-final and final wins.
