South Africa pacer Gerald Coetzee is on cloud nine after being signed by Mumbai Indians (MI) at the IPL 2024 auction and he cannot wait to bowl with Jasprit Bumrah in the upcoming season.
MI shelled out INR 5 Crore to secure the services of Coetzee at the auction, held in Dubai on Tuesday (December 19).
“I cannot wait to join the Mumbai Indians team for the next IPL season. Running out at the Wankhede in the blue and gold, and bowling with Bumrah, I cannot wait. It's going to be fantastic. I'm so excited to see all of you there,” said Coetzee in a video shared by MI on X.
Gerald Coetzee caught everyone’s attention with impressive performances in the recently held ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India. The right-arm quick claimed 20 wickets in the global event from eight games at an average of 19.80. He finished the tournament as the fifth leading wicket-taker.
Besides Coetzee, MI bought seven more players at the IPL 2024 auction and they are Dilshan Madushanka, Shreyas Gopal, Nuwan Thushara, Mohammad Nabi, Shivalik Sharma, Anshul Kamboj and Nama Dhir.
