Pat Cummins took the cricketing world by storm with his whopping price tag at the IPL 2024 auction, currently taking place in Dubai.
Having led Australia to the World Cup 2023 title last month, Cummins was always going to be a big attraction at the auction.
After an intense bidding war, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) managed to secure his services for a hefty sum of INR 20.50 Crore, making him the most expensive buy in the history of IPL auctions.
After the historic deal, Cummins expressed his excitement about joining SRH for the upcoming IPL season.
"Pumped to be joining SRH for the upcoming IPL. I have heard a lot of Orange Army, I have played in Hyderabad a few times and loved it. I cannot wait to get started. Happy to see another Aussie Travis Head. We are going to have a lot of fun this season and hopefully a lot of success," said Cummins in a video message posted by SRH on X.
Earlier, England all-rounder Sam Curran held the record of costliest purchase with a price tag of Rs 18.50 crore. He was sold to Punjab Kings but now Cummins has completely changed the dynamics by becoming the first player to breach the 20 crore mark.
