The list of retained and released players ahead of the IPL 2024 auction was announced on November 26, 2023. The IPL 2024 auction will take place in Dubai on December 19.
The BCCI had set the deadline for the franchises to submit their final list of retained and released players on November 26, which was the last date for the trade window to happen. Thus far only a few trades have happened.
West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd was traded from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to Mumbai Indians (MI). Rajasthan Royals (RR) and LSG swapped opener Devdutt Padikkal for Avesh Khan. And then Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) traded Shahbaz Ahmed to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for Mayank Dagar.
The Chennai Super Kings have released a hoard of players to boost their purse in the IPL 2024 auction.
The biggest name released is Ben Stokes, who had made himself unavailable for IPL 2024. Ambati Rayudu retired from IPL after the IPL 2023 and has been released as well. Two South Africans Sisanda Magala and Dwaine Pretorius have been released as well, along with New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson.
Amongst the Indian players to be released are Subhranshu Senapati, Bhagath Verma, and Akash Singh
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals also announced the list of their released and retained players.
Delhi Capitals let go of some big-name foreign players in Rovman Powell, Rilee Russouw and Mustafizur Rahman. Amongst the big name Indian players, DC released Manish Pandey, Sarfaraz Khan Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Priyam Garg amongst others.
