IPL 2023: “How is it unfair to GT?”- Irfan Pathan gets slammed on Twitter for saying interruption gave CSK the advantage

CSK defeated GT by 5 wickets via DLS method after being asked to chase 171 in 15 overs due to rain.

CSK won the IPL 2023 and became the five-time champions | TwitterOn Monday night, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) final, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The MS Dhoni-led team defeated the 2022 champions by a margin of five wickets to win their fifth IPL championship. On Monday, play was stopped due to rain, cutting CSK's run chase by five overs. The team had barely batted three deliveries when the stoppage occurred.

With a 15-over game, the new playing conditions meant no bowler had the four-over quota for Gujarat Titans anymore, and former India bowler Irfan Pathan stated that it worked in CSK's favour.

In a rain curtailed shortened final Yesterday CSK started batting with Shami. Rasid and Mohit losing one over each from their regular quota of 4 overs. That means league’s top 3 wicket takers were deprived of 18 balls and no wickets. That’s certainly played as an advantage to CSK,” Pathan tweeted.

However, this didn’t sit well with the CSK fans on Twitter who came up with good reasonings why CSK were actually in disadvantage in the final after they were asked to chase 171 runs in 15 overs.

Here are some of the reactions:
