IPL 2023: Circle of Cricket's 'Team of the Tournament' for IPL 16

The IPL 2023 was won by Chennai Super Kings, who became 5-time champions.

Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets via the DLS method to clinch their fifth title, bringing them equal to the Mumbai Indians, who also have five IPL trophies to their name.

However, the crux of the entire IPL 2023 was performances from individuals who shined for their teams and helped them win when it most mattered. Some played consistently, scoring big runs, while some had a huge impact in short appearances.

Some bowlers picked wickets at the start of the innings and then some did the same thing at the death overs.

Keeping this in mind, Team COC picks the IPL 2023 Team of the Tournament.  

The openers for the COC Team of the IPL 2023 are Shubman Gill of GT and Yashasvi Jaiswal of RR. Shubman Gill finished the tournament with the Orange Cap for most runs with 890 of them in 17 matches. He hit 3 centuries as well with the highest score of 129 and hit two consecutive centuries as well.

Yashasvi Jaiswal | BCCI-IPLJaiswal, on the other hand, scored 625 runs in 14 matches. This is the highest haul of runs by an uncapped player in IPL history bettering Shaun Marsh’s 616 runs in IPL 2008. He hit one century and the fastest-ever IPL fifty in just 13 balls.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis will lead the side after he scored 730 runs in 14 matches with 8 fifties at an average of 56.15. He was, along with Virat Kohli, the backbone of the RCB batting lineup.

Suryakumar Yadav started the IPL 2023 a bit lukewarm but then hammered 605 runs with one century and 5 fifties in 14 games at a strike rate of 181.13. Shivam Dube was a revelation for CSK this season as he got the freedom to hit the big shots without the fear of being dropped and it showed in his performance.

Dube hit 418 runs in 17 matches with 3 fifties and a strike rate of 158.33. As for the keeper of this team, SRH’s shining light in their dismal outing, Heinrich Klaasen will take the gloves. He was amazing with the bat as well, scoring 448 runs with one century and 2 fifties with a strike rate of 177.07.

Rinku Singh | BCCI-IPLRinku Singh had the highlight moment of the IPL 2023 when he hit five consecutive sixes to Yash Dayal to win KKR the match from an impossible situation and he finished the season with similar performances, amassing 474 runs with 4 half-centuries at a strike rate of 149.52.

Coming to the bowlers, Ravindra Jadeja with 20 wickets at an economy of 7.56, and Rashid Khan with 27 wickets at an economy of 8.23 will be the spinners and all-rounders in the XI. Rashid even hit 10 sixes in an innings against MI.

The fast bowlers for the team will be Mohammad Shami, the Purple Cap winner for most wickets in IPL 2023 with 28 scalps, and Mohammed Siraj, who was the best with the ball for RCB, who took 19 wickets, with most of them coming in powerplay by both the bowlers.    

Matheesha Pathirana | BCCI-IPLAs for the impact sub, who is better than Sri Lanka’s Matheesha Pathirana, who bowled excellently well for CSK, picking 19 wickets with best of 3/15 and economy of 8.
