IPL 2023: ‘No u turn’ CSK's Ambati Rayudu to retire after IPL final

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu will retire from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after the IPL 2023 final against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad on Sunday (May 28).

Ahead of the grand finale clash, Rayudu announced his decision to call time on his IPL career after playing one last time for the 'Men in Yellow' and ruled out a U-turn on his retirement this time after having done so in the last season when CSK finished 9th on the table.

Rayudu tweeted, “2 great teams mi nd csk,204 matches,14 seasons,11 playoffs,8 finals,5 trophies.hopefully 6th tonight. It’s been quite a journey.I have decided that tonight’s final is going to be my last game in the Ipl.i truly hav enjoyed playing this great tournament.Thank u all. No u turn.”

CSK also paid tribute to Rayudu with a special post.

Rayudu has scored 4329 runs in 203 matches after making his IPL debut in 2010. The right-hander scored one hundred and 22 fifties in his career. He won three titles with Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2013, 2015 and 2017, before moving to Chennai Super Kings and winning two more titles in 2018 and 2021. 

Rayudu has a chance to finish with a sixth title on Sunday when CSK will look to clinch their fifth title and equal the record of MI for the most title wins.
