Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Jos Buttler was held in violation of the IPL Code of Conduct during the match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Thursday (May 11) and was penalised with 10 per cent of his match fee.

Buttler was run out for a duck after a misunderstanding with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored the fastest IPL half-century of all-time in 13 balls, and remained unbeaten on 98 in RR's successful chase of the 150-run target in just 13.1 overs.

Buttler, who expressed some dissent, sacrificed his wicket for Jaiswal, who was blazing away from his end. Its unclear whether the code of conduct violation is due to the incident or something else.

“Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 56 of the TATA Indian Premier League 2023 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on 11 May,” the IPL Governing Council said.

Jaiswal brushed off the run-out incident, when he was asked about it later, as he said, “First of fall, I'd like to mention that I get to learn a lot from Jos Bhai. Unfortunately, it was because of my wrong that he had to sacrifice his wicket, I really respect that. We all know it (run out) happens in the game, nobody does it on purpose,”

“That was the moment, then I took the responsibility to carry on and needed to make sure that I take control. Sanju bhai came to me and said ‘Don’t worry, keep playing your game, you are in nice touch’ and I was ok,” Jaiswal added.
