Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal took the IPL and the cricketing world by storm as he smashed the fastest-ever half-century in the tournament's history, off just 13 balls, against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday (May 11).
The left-hander struck an unbeaten 98 off 47 balls as RR crushed KKR by 9 wickets with 41 balls to spare to move to third on the points table. He has now scored 575 runs in 12 matches at an average of 52.27 with a strike-rate of 167.15 in IPL 2023. He has notched up four fifties and a hundred so far.
The sensational knock even promoted India and RCB legend, Virat Kohli, to take to Instagram to praise the youngster for his dazzling batting.
Here's Kohli's story on Instagram:
Apart from Kohli, KL Rahul, India batter and Lucknow Super Giants captain, also tipped his hat to the young batter as he broke his and Pat Cummins' record for the fastest-ever IPL half-century by one ball.
Jaiswal's senior RR teammate, Yuzvendra Chahal mentioned about the praise he got from Kohli and Rahul in a post-match segment for IPL, which stunned the 21-year-old. Chahal, also wished to see the Mumbaikar receive his India cap soon, which got a touching gesture out of him as he folded his hands and looked towards the heavens.
Chahal also jokingly mentioned to Jaiswal that his opening partner Jos Buttler is waiting for him, as he was run out for a duck after a misunderstanding in the middle.
