IPL 2023: WATCH – “It’s 35th, not 36th” Rohit Sharma's hilarious banter with Harsha Bhogle over his birthday

Rohit showed his hilarious side after MI's thrilling last-over win against RR.

Rohit Sharma and Harsha Bhogle | BCCI-IPLMumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma celebrated his 36th birthday on Sunday (April 30). On his special day, the team registered a thrilling six-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Wankhede Stadium.

Chasing 213 to win, the hosts got over the line with three deliveries to spare thanks to an onslaught from Tim David (45* off 14). Earlier, Cameron Green (44 off 26) and Suryakumar Yadav (55 off 29) returned with dazzling knocks to set up the chase.

While Rohit (3) failed to make a mark with the bat, he scored some with his cheeky comments while speaking to veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Here's how the conversation unfolded between Rohit and Harsha:

HarshaWin on your 36th birthday.

Rohit It's the 35th, not the 36th.

Harsha Oh, they gave me one more.

Rohit No, it's 36th only. I was joking.

Talking about the victory, Rohit Sharma said it was pleasing to see his side chase down the colossal target.

“It was pleasing to see how we chased down the target. Last game too, we came close and we back ourselves to chase them down. So it was pleasing,” he stated.

The MI captain also played down comparisons between former MI all-rounder Kieron Pollard and Tim David, saying that the Australian has big shoes to fill.

“Polly's shoes are big to fill, but Tim has got a lot of ability and power. At the back end that helps and is good to have. The changes in the side are difficult, but sometimes you have to play the conditions and make calls based on compositions, so the players need to be prepared for that,” Rohit added.

Mumbai Indians will next face Punjab Kings in Mohali on May 3.
