IPL 2023: Mitchell Marsh’s all-round heroics in vain as SRH return to winnings ways by beating DC

SRH piled up 197/6 on the board and then restricted DC to 188/6.

SRH restricted DC to 188/6 | BCCI-IPLSunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) registered a narrow nine-run victory over Delhi Capitals in Match 40 of IPL 2023 at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday (April 29).

Opting to bat first, SRH piled up 197/6 in their allotted 20 overs on the back of half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma (67 off 36 balls) and Heinrich Klaasen (53* off 27 balls).

Mitchell Marsh was the stand-out bowler for DC, claiming four wickets by conceding 27 runs in his four-over spell.

In reply, the Capitals lost skipper David Warner for a second-ball duck but the duo of Philip Salt (59 off 35) and Marsh (63 off 39) added 112 for the second wicket to put the hosts in a driver’s seat.

Mayank Markande broke the partnership by removing Salt in the 12th over and the dismissal triggered a collapse. DC lost the plot and slipped to 148/6 by the 17th over.

While Akshar Patel (29* off 14) tried his best to take the home team over the line, he didn’t get the desired support from the other end as Delhi Capitals’ innings was eventually restricted to 188/6.

Besides Markande (2-20), Abhishek Sharma (1-26), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1-45), Akeal Hosein (1-40) and T Natarajan (1-34) were among the wickets for SRH.
