IPL 2023: “Our win in the last match will help us build confidence,” says Akshar Patel ahead of DC’s clash against SRH

DC have won only one out of their six games in the IPL 2023 season so far.

Delhi Capitals | BCCI-IPLAfter suffering five successive defeats, Delhi Capitals (DC) opened their winning account in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) in their last match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday (April 20).

While the David Warner-led side is still languishing at the bottom of the IPL 2023 points table, DC vice-captain Akshar Patel feels one victory is enough to boost the morale of the team.

Chasing the paltry target of 128 against KKR, the Capitals survived anxious moments to get over the finishing line. Akshar produced a handy knock of 19* from 22 balls to seal the deal in 19.2 overs.

"A win certainly changes the environment in the team. A few doubts creep in when you're not able to cross the line. Our win in the last match will help us build confidence. We will try to keep winning games," Akshar was quoted as saying in a release from the franchise.

Reflecting on that match, the southpaw stated that Delhi Capitals would try to play near-perfect games going forward, starting from the clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday (April 24).

"The wicket was a bit tricky and they bowled quite well. Therefore, I wanted to take the game as deep as possible. There's always room for improvement and we'll definitely try to play a near-perfect game in our upcoming matches. If we can do that then that'll be a big confidence booster as well," he stated.

According to Akshar Patel, SRH’s pace attack will challenge DC batters and hopes for the pitch to be a good one for the batters.

"The wicket in Hyderabad is good for batting. The pitch will help our batters as we have been playing on slow wickets in our last few games. The ball comes onto the bat nicely in Hyderabad. Sunrisers Hyderabad's fast bowling unit will pose a challenge to us, but we'll plan properly to take on the challenge," he remarked.
