IPL 2023: “Just clear mindset and nothing else,” says Rahane after slamming 29-ball 71* against KKR

Rahane took the KKR attack to the cleaners at the Eden Gardens.

Ajinkya Rahane | BCCI-IPLAjinkya Rahane put on a show with the bat in Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) thumping 49-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on Sunday (April 23).

Batting at No. 3, Rahane took the KKR attack to the cleaners, completing his half-century in just 24 deliveries.

Rahane continued his carnage after the milestone as well and eventually returned with 71 not out off 29 balls. His knock, which was studded with 6 fours and 5 sixes, propelled CSK to a mammoth 235/4 in 20 overs.

After the game, Rahane was asked about his turnaround in fortunes and he said that it was the outcome of having a clear mindset.

"Just clear mindset and nothing else. If your mind is right, then you can do anything. The process is good and I am enjoying myself. The track was sticky initially and then it got better. We had a good start and then I came and went about their business. I am enjoying my knocks and enjoying each and every one of it," Rahane said at the post-match presentation ceremony after receiving the Player-of-the-Match award.

In five games for CSK so far, Rahane has amassed 209 runs at a remarkable strike-rate of 199.04 – the highest among players who have scored 100+ runs this season.

Sharing his experience of being a part of the Chennai-based franchise, Rahane said he is enjoying playing under the legendary MS Dhoni.

“I am enjoying playing under Mahi bhai. He teaches us a lot and you listen to it and get better. It's a learning curve for all of us and it's a pleasure playing under him," he concluded.
