Ajinkya Rahane put on a show with the bat for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing IPL 2023 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens.
Batting at No. 3, Rahane wreaked havoc on the KKR bowlers from the word go. He was severe on both pacers and spinners and completed his half-century off just 24 balls.
Rahane continued his carnage after the milestone as well and the right-hander eventually returned with 71 not out off 29 balls. His knock was studded with 6 fours and 5 sixes.
The highlight of Rahane’s dazzling knock was the boundary he hit against Kulwant Khejroliya in the 18th over of CSK’s innings.
It was a low full toss wide of off and Rahane effortlessly pulled off an AB de Villiers-like reverse ramp over short third man to accumulate four runs.
Rahane’s unorthodox shot also left former England skipper Kevin Pietersen mesmerized as the latter took to Twitter and wrote: “Jinx Rahane has just played one of the greatest shots I’ve ever seen. Keep entertaining brother!”
Former India coach Ravi Shastri, who was on-air when Rahane executed this incredible shot, said: “How good is that? It goes straight into the Kolkata Knight Riders dug out.”
When the replay of that stroke was shown, ex-New Zealand pacer Simon Doull said, “I'm not sure how!”
Thanks to Ajinkya Rahane’s knock, CSK piled up a mammoth 235/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Shivam Dube (50 off 21) and Devon Conway (56 off 40) also slammed stunning half-centuries.
