IPL 2023: “We won't look too much into that,” Rohit Sharma taking positives out of MI’s loss to PBKS

Mumbai Indians suffered a 13-run defeat at the hands of Punjab Kings.

Rohit Sharma | BCCI-IPLMumbai Indians (MI) suffered a 13-run defeat at the hands of Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a high-scoring affair at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday (April 22).

Chasing 215 to win, Cameron Green (67 off 43), Suryakumar Yadav (57 off 26) and Rohit Sharma (44 off 27) fired for MI but they failed to take the five-time champions over the finishing line.

Although Rohit was a little disappointed after the game, the MI skipper chose to take positives out of this loss.

"A little disappointed. We made some errors on the field which can happen but we won't look too much into that," Rohit said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

"Just keep our heads high. We played six games now, won 3 lost 3. Even stevens at the moment. Lot of time remaining in the tournament so we can't look down. We need to stay in the game and in the tournament and keep doing the right things. Yes we didn't come out on top today. Like I said, we made some errors but it is something for us to look back at it," he added.

Arshdeep Singh was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball for PBKS. The left-arm pacer defended 16 runs in the last over and returned with the figures of 4/29 in his four-over spell.

While the MI captain praised Green and Suryakumar’s effort with the bat, he also lauded Arshdeep’s exploits with the ball.

"Quite happy with the way these 2 guys batted today. It was important for us to keep us in the game and they kept us in the game till the end. Gotta give credit to Arshdeep the way he bowled in the end. It was not our day today," Rohit concluded.

Mumbai Indians are occupying the seventh position in the team standings with 6 points from 6 matches. They will next face Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on April 25.
