Former West Indies pacer Ian Bishop has made a huge prediction for the talented Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter Rinku Singh, that he might get atleast an India A call-up after his exploits in the ongoing IPL 2023.
After stunning everyone with his match-winning five consecutive sixes against Gujarat Titans (GT), Rinku Singh showed against why he has been given the finisher role by the KKR franchise. He was in good form against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday.
After SRH set KKR a target of 229 runs to win, thanks to Harry Brook’s 100*, the KKR found themselves in a bit of trouble. But then Nitish Rana, the skipper made 75 runs and Rinku Singh scored 58* runs off 31 balls with four fours and four sixes. But this proved to be inadequate as KKR only made 205/7 and lost by 23 runs.
Speaking on ESPNCricinfo, West Indies legend Ian Bishop made a huge prediction for Rinku and lavished praise on him.
"I am wondering when he gets an elevation. I saw him last season, there is something about him besides the numbers that we have seen. You look at his first-class records, so I am hoping an India A call up is atleast around the corner for him", he said.
On the same conversation, former SRH coach Tom Moody said: "I am wondering when he gets an elevation. I saw him last season, there is something about him besides the numbers that we have seen. You look at his first-class records, so I am hoping an India A call up is atleast around the corner for him."
Rinku Singh, in 40 FC matches, has registered 2875 runs at an average of 59.89 and 70.88 strike rate.
