IPL 2023: CSK issue update on injury status of Deepak Chahar and Ben Stokes

Chahar suffered a hamstring injury while bowling the opening over of MI v CSK clash at Wankhede.

CSK gave update on injuries sustained by Deepak Chahar and Ben Stokes | BCCI-IPLChennai Super Kings (CSK) registered its second win in three matches in ongoing IPL 2023, as they defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 8 by 7 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium. However, that win came at a cost for the CSK camp.

Fast bowler Deepak Chahar suffered hamstring injury after bowling five balls in his opening over against MI and walked off the field after consulting the team physio after completing the over.

Now CSK confirmed on their website that: “Deepak Chahar injured his hamstring during Saturday's match against Mumbai Indians. The fast bowler bowled one over before being forced off the field due to injury.  Chahar will undergo scans to identify the extent of the injury once the team returns to Chennai.”

Meanwhile, CSK are also sweating over the fitness of their England import, Ben Stokes. The England Test captain played the first two games for the Chennai Super Kings and as per CSK, injured his toe during practice ahead of the MI match.

Ben Stokes is nursing a minor toe injury which forced him out of the match against Mumbai Indians at The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday (April 8). Stokes played Chennai Super Kings' first two matches of IPL 2023 before injuring his toe during training ahead of the third game, which the Super Kings won by seven wickets,” CSK said in a statement.

Chennai Super Kings also confirmed that the medical staff are closely monitoring both the players and will provide all support necessary for their recovery.
