IPL 2023: Jhye Richardson ruled out of IPL 16 due to hamstring injury; Mumbai Indians name replacement

Riley Meredith has previously played for Mumbai Indians | MI/TwitterAustralia pacer Riley Meredith has replaced compatriot Jhye Richardson in Mumbai Indians’ (MI) squad for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season 2023.

“Richardson is suffering from a hamstring injury and is ruled out of the 16th edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL),” IPL said in a statement.

Meredith has played 5 T20Is, claiming eight wickets that includes a three-wicket haul. He has represented Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians in the previous editions of the IPL.

Mumbai Indians have suffered an eight-wicket thrashing at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore in their IPL 2023 opener.

The Rohit Sharma-led side will next face Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on April 8.
