While England’s white-ball skipper Jos Buttler has been a key member of the Rajasthan Royals franchise since 2018, his national teammate Joe Root is making his maiden appearance in the Indian Premier League.

During the IPL 2023 auction last December, Root was roped in by the Royals for his base price of INR 1 Crore.

In a video posted by IPL's official Twitter handle, Buttler was involved in a fun conversation with Root.

Buttler asked the former England Test captain to name a person who he would like to avoid at the franchise. To which, Root took the name of Chahal even though the wrist-spinner has taken good care of him since his arrival at the franchise.

Root also mentioned that he never really got the chance to know Chahal despite playing a lot against him over the years.

When Joe Root’s turn came, he asked Buttler to pick his best friend between him and Chahal.

In response, the England captain said: "Tough choice. When i'm in India, Yuzi can take of me. When i'm outside, you can be my best mate."

Root was not included in RR’s playing XI for the first two games against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings.

Rajasthan Royals will take on Delhi Capitals in their next clash in Guwahati on April 8.
