IPL 2023: Hardik Pandya expects Sai Sudharsan to do something big in franchise cricket and hopefully for India

Sai Sudharsan starred with the bat in GT's 6-wicket win over DC.

Sai Sudharsan | BCCI-IPLSai Sudharsan starred with the bat in Gujarat Titans’ (GT) six-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 7 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday (April 4).

Chasing 163 to win, the Titans were struggling at 54/3. Amid the pressure situation, Sudharsan produced an unbeaten knock of 62 in 48 balls to take the defending champions over the line with 11 deliveries to spare.

After the game, GT skipper Hardik Pandya heaped praise on Sai Sudharsan, backing the youngsters to do great things for the franchise and 'hopefully' India.

"He has been batting beautifully. You can see the fruit of his hard work. In two years he will do something big in franchise cricket and hopefully for India," Hardik said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

It was Gujarat Titans’ second successive victory in this year’s IPL. Talking about his success as captain, Pandya said he relies on instincts.

He further said that the philosophy of GT is to have fun and the support staff, including Ashish Nehra and Gary Kirsten, make sure that the dressing room environment is relaxed.

"It is my instinct. I like to back myself. I'd rather back me and fall down than taking others' decision. I'd rather land the first punch than take the first punch. We tell the boys to enjoy. It will help to take us right decisions and someone takes us through periods when needed. Whatever happens it is okay but be out happy out there and take care of each other," he said.

Gujarat Titans will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in their next clash in Ahmedabad on April 9.
