Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni has left a massive impact on the game with his leadership skills.
Not only the Indian players, but cricketers from around the world aspire to play under his captaincy in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
England all-rounder Moeen Ali, who is playing under Dhoni in the ongoing IPL season at CSK, hailed the latter’s captaincy saying that the skipper knows when to bowl his players.
Moeen played a key role with the ball in CSK’s 12-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Monday (April 3).
In a high-scoring affair, the off-spinner ran through the LSG batting line-up to return with the figures of 4 for 26 from his four overs.
"MS knows what he's doing. The great thing about bowling under MS is he knows when to bowl players," Moeen said.
"I'm not going to bowl all the time with Jadeja in there. I think it's going to take partnerships and individuals to stand up and win games."
Even though Dhoni has used his spin sparingly, Moeen Ali has no issues with it. He did not bowl in the tournament opener against Gujarat Titans.
Dhoni marshalled his bowling resources astutely after the pacers proved to be expensive. Moeen and Mitchell Santner shared five wickets between them and conceded 47 runs in their eight combined overs to turn the game in CSK’s favour.
"I tried to bowl like I do in Test cricket and just spin it as hard as I can," Moeen said after earning the Player of the Match award. "They have big hitters so you don't want to get it up there against these guys but we had a good (bowling) partnership so it was nice to get the win."
