IPL 2023: Star Sports announces star studded TV commentary panel; Ravi Shastri, Harsha Bhogle absent

The IPL 2023 begins on March 31.

Ravi Shastri and Harsha Bhogle's names were missing from the list of commentators | TwitterThe IPL 2023 is scheduled to begin on March 31 with defending champions Gujarat Titans taking on four-time champs Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi stadium, and ahead of this clash, official TV broadcasters Star Sports have announced the commentary panel in various languages.

The broadcast giants have guaranteed coverage in 9 languages, with experts commentating in all languages. The likes of Sunil Gavaskar, Imran Tahir, Matthew Hayden, and Virender Sehwag headline the team, with Ravi Shastri and Harsha Bhogle being the big misses.

This will be the first time Star Sports will be sharing media rights after Viacom18 bagged the digital rights for the IPL. JioCinema roped in MS Dhoni and Suryakumar Yadav as brand ambassadors, while Star Sports got in Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for their campaign.

The English commentary team features legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Jacques Kallis, Matthew Hayden, Tom Moody, and England’s first T20 World Cup-winning captain Paul Collingwood amongst others.

The Hindi commentary team will have the likes of Virender Sehwag, Imran Tahir, Harbhajan Singh, Mithali Raj, Irfan Pathan, and Yusuf Pathan to name a few.
