IPL 2023: RCB's Will Jacks ruled out of the tournament due to injury – Report

Jacks picked up a muscle injury during the recently held ODI series against Bangladesh.

Will Jacks | GettyEngland batter Will Jacks has been ruled out of the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), ESPNCricinfo reported on Wednesday (March 15).

Jacks was roped in by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the IPL auction last year for INR 3.2 crore. He picked up a muscle injury during the recently held ODI series against Bangladesh while fielding.

His scans arrived earlier this week and after consultation with specialists, the cricketer was forced to pull out of the IPL. This was Jacks' maiden IPL stint and he would've hoped to push his case for the upcoming World Cup in India with some impressive exploits in the cash-rich tournament.

According to the report, RCB are in discussions with New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell as the potential replacement of Will Jacks. Bracewell was part of the IPL 2023 auction last December but he didn’t find a bidder at the base price of INR 1 crore.

In yet another update, England pacer Reece Topley, who was also signed by RCB at the auction, is likely to be fit in time for the start of the IPL 2023 after being on the sidelines for the entire Bangladesh tour with a niggle.

While the IPL 2023 is slated to get underway on March 31, Royal Challengers Bangalore will open their campaign against Mumbai Indians at Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 2.

RCB Squad for IPL 2023: Faf du Plessis (c), Virat Kohli, Suyash Prabhudessai, Rajat Patidar, Dinesh Karthik, Anuj Rawat, Finn Allen, Glenn Maxwell, Wanindu Hasaranga, Shahbaz Ahmed, Harshal Patel, David Willey, Karn Sharma, Mahipal Lomror, Mohammed Siraj, Josh Hazlewood, Siddarth Kaul, Akash Deep, Reece Topley, Rajan Kumar, Avinash Singh, Sonu Yadav, Manoj Bhandage, Himanshu Sharma
