IPL 2023 Auction: Joshua Little becomes first Ireland player to bag IPL contract, Mishra & Chawla sold for base price

The likes of Sam Curran (18.50 Crore), Cameron Green (17.50 Crore), Ben Stokes (16.25 Crore), Nicholas Pooran (16 Crore) and Harry Brook (13.25 Crore) hogged the limelight in the first few sets with their whopping price tags.

In Set No. 15, capped spinners were up for grabs and veteran campaigners Amit Mishra and Piyush Chawla managed to find bidders.

Mishra was roped in by Lucknow Super Giants for his base price of 50 Lakh. The leg-spinner is the fourth highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL with 166 scalps, having turned up for Hyderabad and Delhi-based franchises in the past.

On the other hand, Chawla was bought by five-time champions Mumbai Indians for 50 Lakh. He entered into the auction ring with the same base price as well.

Chawla is the fifth highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL with 157 scalps.

In Set No. 23, fast bowling all-rounders were up for grabs and Joshua Little became the first Irish player to bag an IPL contract as he was bought by Gujarat Titans for 4.4 Crore, way more than his base price of 50 Lakh.

In the same set, India’s Mohit Sharma was also fetched by the defending IPL champions for his base price of 50 Lakh.
