The player registration for the IPL 2023 auction ended on November 30, 2022, and the BCCI announced that a total of 991 players have registered for the event which will be held in Kochi on December 23rd.
The BCCI, on December 1, 2022, revealed that out of the 991 registered players, 714 are Indian and 277 are overseas. This includes 185 capped, 786 uncapped, and 20 players from Associate Nations.

The most number of the overseas players registered are from Australia-57, while 52 are from South Africa, 33 are from West Indies, and 31 are from England.
If every franchise has a maximum of 25 players in their squad, 87 players are available to be bought in the auction, of which 30 can be overseas players.
