BCCI president Sourav Ganguly on Thursday (September 22) confirmed that the Indian Premier League (IPL) will return to its original home-and-away format from IPL 2023 onwards.

As a result, fans couldn’t hold their excitement to see their favorite team playing on their home grounds in the IPL 2023.

The IPL hasn't been played in the traditional format since 2020 due to COVID-19, as it was played in UAE. though the IPL 2021 was held in India at the start, the second wave of the pandemic resulted in the suspension of the league and then resumption in UAE.

As a precaution, the IPL 2022 was held in India, but entirely in four stadiums in Maharashtra itself.

But with things "going back to normalcy", the IPL 2023 will return to its old format, where each team will plays on home and away basis.

As per PTI, in a note to all the state cricket associations, the BCCI President wrote, “The next season of men's IPL will also go back to the home and away format with all ten teams playing their home matches at their designated venues. The BCCI is currently working on the much-awaited women's IPL. We are expecting to start the first season early next year.”

Well, ever since the news broke out, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans have been showing elation on social media to see the return of 'Thala' MS Dhoni to Chepauk.

The IPL 2023 will see the return of CSK skipper Dhoni to MA Chidambaram Cricket Stadium in Chennai, also known as Chepauk, and the Yellow Army can't wait to get a glimpse of Thala in front of a roaring crowd at their home ground.
