IPL 2022: Cricket fraternity lauds Virat Kohli as his 73 helps RCB defeat GT by 8 wickets; stay alive in playoffs race

This match saw Virat Kohli coming back into his old self as he played an assured knock of 73 runs to help RCB win the match and remain alive in the race for playoffs of IPL 2022.

GT captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bat first. He played a captain’s knock of 62* and with contributions from David Miller (34) and Rashid Khan (19*) took the final score for the Gujarat Titans to 168/5 in 20 overs.

In reply, RCB opener Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis presented the team with the perfect start as they added 115 runs for the opening wicket in 14.3 overs with Du Plessis scoring 44 in 38 balls before falling to Rashid Khan.

Virat Kohli also fell to Rashid but had made 73 in 54 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes. In the end, Glenn Maxwell (40* in 18 balls; 5 fours and 2 sixes) took the team over the finishing line and RCB won the match with 8 wickets in hand and 10 balls spare.

This win took RCB to the 4th spot in the IPL 2022 points table with 16 points and a net run rate of -0.253.

However, it was the match in which Virat Kohli showed glimpses of returning to form and the cricket fraternity on Twitter that was all praises for the former RCB captain.
