It seems to be the beginning of the end for the relationship between Ravindra Jadeja and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), after his unceremonious removal as captain in the middle of IPL 2022. Jadeja, who was named the captain two days before IPL 15 began, was replaced by MS Dhoni after the franchise lost 6 out of their first 8 matches.
CSK tried to make a comeback with Dhoni as captain and Jadeja also performing with the bat and the ball, after the responsibilities of captaincy were off his shoulders. But a rib injury ended Jadeja’s IPL 2022 early.
However, a storm build up a few days ago when Chennai Super Kings unfollowed Ravindra Jadeja on social media sites such as Instagram, as per reports. And people speculated that Jadeja might have played his last game in CSK colors in the IPL.
Now sources close to Jadeja have informed InsideSport that the leading Indian all-rounder is ‘upset and very hurt’ with the CSK management.
“Yes, he (Ravindra Jadeja) is upset & very hurt. The captaincy issue could have been handled better. Everything was too sudden, too abrupt. Any human being would get hurt by the way things shaped up”, said a source close to Ravindra Jadeja to InsideSport.
When asked if the injury was the reason for Jadeja to pull out of IPL 2022. The source refused to make a direct comment.
“I don’t want to say much on this. Yes, he had an injury but how serious I am not aware” added the source.
It is worth noting that CSK informed the media that Jadeja had pulled out due to a bruised rib. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan himself came on record to state that ‘as CSK is already ousted from IPL Playoff race, the team did not want to risk his injury further’.
InsideSport had reported at that point in time that CSK’s promoters and management were very unhappy with Jadeja’s show and decided to show him the door.

“He (Ravindra Jadeja) looked lethargic, subdued & unimaginative. He was not his usual confident self while leading the team”, InsideSport was informed by a source in the CSK camp.
The report also mentioned some reasons why Jadeja might be miffed with the CSK management.
One of the reasons was that Dhoni said that Jadeja was told about captaincy last season itself, then why CSK waited until two days before to make his captaincy announcement. The second reason given that though Jadeja captained the side in 8 matches officially, it was clear that many decisions were taken by MS Dhoni himself, while Jadeja kept fielding in the deep.
But discredit for all the defeats was passed on Jadeja’s head.
The third reason that the report pointed out was the announcement that Jadeja had relinquished the captaincy that came all of a sudden on the eve of the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
