IPL 2022: “It’s not looking great for him”, Watson says Shaw unlikely to be available for DC’s last two league games

IPL 2022: “It’s not looking great for him”, Watson says Shaw unlikely to be available for DC’s last two league games

Prithvi Shaw has already missed DC’s last three games due to fever.

Prithvi Shaw | BCCI-IPLProviding an update on Prithvi Shaw’s health, Delhi Capitals’ (DC) assistant coach Shane Watson on Thursday (May 12) said that the opening batter is unlikely to be available for the team’s last two league matches as “he has just had this underlying fever for the previous couple of weeks.”

Shaw has already missed DC’s last three games and after the win against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday (May 11), skipper Rishabh Pant said the 22-year-old could be suffering from typhoid.

Prithvi Shaw was last seen in action against the Lucknow Super Giants on May 1.

“I don’t know his diagnosis exactly. But he has just had this underlying fever for the previous couple of weeks, which they’ve had to really get to the bottom of it to find out exactly what it was,” Watson told the Grade Cricketer.

“It’s not looking great for him to be available for the last couple of games, which is a big shame because he is an incredibly skilful young batter taking the best bowlers in the world down a lot of the time.”

“It’s a big loss for us to not have him. The last couple of weeks he has been under the weather. Hopefully, he gets back to full health soon, but unfortunately, it’s not going to be in time for the minimum of last two games that we’ve got,” he added.

Earlier this week, Shaw had shared an Instagram story from his hospital bed, saying he is recovering from fever and will be back in action soon.

Delhi Capitals are due to face Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their next match on May 16 at DY Patil Stadium.
