The 59th match of the ongoing IPL 2022 will see the clash of the two bottom-placed teams on the points table, with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 12, 2022.
CSK had beaten MI in their previous meeting in the tournament and will look to win this match to keep that sliver of hope alive of qualifying into the playoffs. MI are out of the race and will be playing for the pride.
IPL 2022: Ravindra Jadeja ruled out of remaining IPL 15 season due to rib injury
Considering this, here is the Team COC predicted playing XIs for the CSK v MI match.
CHENNAI SUPER KINGS
CSK is not known for changing their playing XIs much, but this time it has been different due to injuries and the form of the players. However, they have found a settled group of players, albeit late in the tournament.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway have excelled as openers, while Shivam Dube, Moeen Ali, and Ambati Rayudu have strengthened the middle order. Robin Uthappa has done well in the opportunities he got.
MS Dhoni has been his own self, but more confident with the bat and as always sharp behind the stumps and in mind games. Dwayne Bravo maybe 39, but he hasn’t missed a step bowling in death overs.
IPL 2022: Ravindra Jadeja unfollowed by CSK’s official Instagram handle amidst rumors of rift
Maheesh Theekshana has been the find for CSK in this IPL 2022 as he has controlled the narrative in middle overs with Jadeja struggling for form. The one department CSK has been hit the most is the pace department as in absence of Deepak Chahar, they failed to find a bowler who could deliver the good consistently.
MUMBAI INDIANS
MI are no longer in the race for the playoffs and will look to give some fringe players more games as their tournament nears its end. Neither Rohit Sharma nor Ishan Kishan could deliver consistently with the bat.
Suryakumar Yadav’s IPL 2022 has been ended due to an injury, leaving them with only Tilak Varma as the batter in form and perhaps the find of the IPL 2022. The other batters they have used, Ramandeep Singh has failed to grab his chances, while, Dewald Brevis has impressed a lot and might find himself back in the mix.
IPL 2022: “He has typhoid or something like that” says Rishabh Pant about Prithvi Shaw
Another option to try would be their newest recruit Tristan Stubbs from South Africa, a handy batter, off-break bowler, and occasional wicketkeeper. M Ashwin and Kumar Karthikeya have given them hope in the spin department.
Daniel Sams and Riley Meredith have done well to support Jasprit Bumrah who has been shouldering the MI pace department.
CSK COC Predicted Playing XI:
Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Shivam Dube, Ambati Rayudu, Robin Uthappa, MS Dhoni (C-WK), Moeen Ali, Dwayne Bravo, Simarjeet Singh, Maheesh Theekshana, Mukesh Choudhary
