Mumbai Indians (MI) didn’t have a good night against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 56th match of the IPL 2022 as they were defeated by Shreyas Iyer’s men by 52 runs. This win kept KKR alive in the race for the playoffs.
Jasprit Bumrah's sensational five-wicket haul gave Mumbai a brilliant opportunity at a third straight win, as KKR were restricted to 165/9, but then MI’s poor batting let them down as they were bundled out for 113 runs.
However, despite their poor performance, MI gave the fans something to laugh at as Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard managed to somehow hit the umpire with the ball during his delivery stride.
It happened in the 10th over of the innings when Pollard was introduced into the attack. The ball had slipped out of his hand moments before he could deliver it and it went and hit the umpire.
Pollard apologized to the umpire, who was seen laughing and joined in the fun was MI skipper Rohit Sharma, who himself was smiling.
