After losing three games on a trot, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finally managed a win under their belt as they defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 13 runs to claim the fourth place on the points table.

Asked to bat first, RCB went off the flyer as Faf du Plessis (38) and Virat Kohli (30) scored 62 runs for the opening partnership. But after that, they suffered a mini-collapse and lost wickets in quick succession to find themselves tumbling at 123/4.

After skipper Du Plessis got out, Glenn Maxwell came to bat at No.3. However, it wasn’t a fruitful outing for him as he was run out for just 3 runs. He responded to Kohli’s call, who pushed a delivery from Ravindra Jadeja to the off-side in the 9th over, and tried to steal a quick single but fell well short of the crease.

Maxwell’s run out was crucial at that stage as it put RCB on the backfoot. But a 42-run knock by Mahipal Lomror and finish by Dinesh Karthik (26*) helped RCB post a total of 173 runs and subsequently win the match by 13 runs.

After the match, RCB players were seen celebrating the win in their dressing room. Maxwell took a jibe at Kohli and said that he can’t bat with him as he’s too fast and runs singles and doubles.

"I just can’t bat with you. You run too fast, you run too fast. You get ones and twos, I don’t," Glenn Maxwell said in a video posted on RCB’s Twitter account.

Notably, it was the former RCB skipper, who first started the banter, as he called Maxwell the greatest injured player in the history of the game while lauding him for his bowling effort of 2/22.

"That was a good win, so important. The greatest injured player in the history of the game (laughs). 2/22 in 4 overs," Virat Kohli said.

Here’s the video:

RCB will be next seen in action against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday (8th May) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
