India batting legend Sunil Gavaskar has lobbied for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Umran Malik to be included in the Indian team, following his remarkable five-wicket haul against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2022.

On Wednesday night, the 22-year-old Umran from Jammu and Kashmir delivered one of the most explosive spells of fast bowling in IPL history, claiming five wickets for 25 runs.

Rashid Khan (31 not out off 11 balls) and Rahul Tewatia (40 not out in 21 balls) combined for 56 runs in the last four overs, including 22 in the final six deliveries, to carry the Titans home in a last-ball thriller.

Throughout the season, Umran has bowled regularly over 150 kph and has taken 15 wickets in eight matches at a rate of 15.93.

Malik, who came into the attack in the eighth over, delivered devastatingly quick deliveries to scythe through the Gujarat Titans top-order, becoming the first bowler in IPL history to take all five wickets in an innings where only five wickets fell.

This led to Gavaskar getting mightily impressed with Umran Malik and his pace.

"The next for him, I think is the Indian team. He might not play in the XI because India has got Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Umesh Yadav. So, he might not play. But just traveling with the group, traveling with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, sharing the dressing room with them... just look what is going to happen to him!" former India skipper Gavaskar said after the game.

India's trip to England begins in June this year, with the visitors playing the last Test of the five-match series, which was postponed due to COVID-19 last year, from 1 to 5 July, before playing three T20Is and playing as many ODIs.

India will begin their tour of the United Kingdom with two T20Is against Ireland in Dublin on June 26.
